About The Author
Hildegard Caringi was born in Danzig, Germany. In 1944 Hildegard’s father, a young soldier on his way to Russia, got killed in Poland.
After the war Danzig became Polish (Gdansk) and Hildegad’s mother fled with her three children to Rendsburg, Schleswig-Holstein, not far from the Danish boarder. As a small girl, Hildegard escaped from haunting WWII memories and the harsh realities of the times to a make-believe world full of angels. fairies, witches, goblins, and other creatures, which stimulated her creativity and desire to write and perform. It is this same desire that brought Hildegard to pen The Joy Of Being, a vineyard of poems and short stories and Once Upon a Sandcastle, a children’s adventure-fantasy book. In her book The Joy of Being author Hildegard Caringi presents a series of short stories and poems that are put together to portray a unique compilation that is part memoir and part prose.
Hildegard has lived in many parts of the world, eventually making her way to Hollywood where she studied film acting and worked in films, television shows, and commercials, in addition to her career as a drama coach, a German language disc jockey, and TV announcer in the area. She has written some television shows, short stories and poems in both English and German, and plays, directing many of them in her own stage productions, in addition to holding a degree in business administration from Germany. Hildegard lives with her husband of 36 years, actor/writer/producer Steve Drexel, in Quartz Hill, California.
